Just under 100 people attended the 2006 Texas State Railroad Railfan Weekend.  Railfan Weekend trips began at Rusk.

With the extra cars for Railfan Weekend passengers, a sawby was necessary when we met the westbound train from Palestine.

No. 201 takes over for the Railfan Weekend Special to Maydelle.  This was the locomotive's first revenue run since its recent restoration.

The shop tour is cut short as diesel No. 8 is called out to rescue No. 300.

No. 300 is cut off the Sunday morning train at Maydelle and replaced with No. 8 for the remainder of the run to Palestine.

The switch is thrown and No. 8 heads to Palestine.  No. 300 will be stabled at Maydelle temporarily.

The eastbound from Palestine also is running late due to No. 300's problems.  Most passengers don't seem to mind.
